I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you will not start your business today. I know this because most entrepreneurs will procrastinate unnecessarily until they are comfortable that everything is perfect.
Do not fall into this trap. It will suck you in and keep you there forever. It might even make the idea go away or loose it’s luster.
Who has heard of analysis paralysis? It is more common than you think and it will stop you dead in your tracks faster than a sniper shot (sorry for the analogy but I want your attention because this is important). The only way you are going to find out what works and what doesn’t is getting something out there. Lets look at two examples.
Example #1 – business is starting out and the first thirty days were spent writing and refining your ebook. You have looked it over and over again and it looks and feels good but it might need a bit more touch up. Instead, you take my advice and decide to get it out there. You launch it and away it goes. A week into the product launch you have feedback coming in from your customers saying that it is a good book but it is over priced. Heading their feedback you frantically do more research and go into writing a revision that adds several more chapters of information. You release the upgraded ebook and sales start coming in. Now you are getting good commments and your customers generally seem happy. The next step is to see how ou can improve it even more and raise the retail…..Yahoo! You are one your way!
Example #2 – business is starting out and the first thirty days were spent writing and refining you ebook. You have looked it over again and again and it looks and feels good but it might need a bit more touch up. You go back to the drawing board and start a revamp. Before you know it a month has gone by and you are still trying to put the finishing touches on it. It seems as though it is taking on a life of it’s own and with each revamp you redo more and more of the original book because the pieces arent fitting together. Here you are two months later and you are still messing around with the final product but things aren’t perfect yet. Oh well, maybe it wasn’ such a great idea in the first place. Lets start something else that will come together easier.
Sound familiar? Please take it from me. I was there am so glad that I finally took the first path and got a product out there. I ahve been able to conitually ad tweeks to improve it but I have had excellent feedback to guide me.
Take that first step and get your product out there. You will be happy you did.
