Secrets to a Mega Profitable Squeeze Page
The importance of a mega profitable squeeze page can’t be overstated. A top notch squeeze page can get you started building that high producing email list you’ve always wanted. It can also set you up for a very profitable back end sales funnel that could double or triple your sales profit.
One of the reasons an excellent squeeze page is so important is to “squeeze” the email address out of your reader so you can use the information they provide you for follow up marketing…the mighty “back end” sales game.
Some marketers don’t even plan to make a profit on the original sale. They will spend the entire profit just to get the email address. Think about that. It is so profitable to gain an email address that some marketers will give up all their profit just to get you on their list. This should give you a good indication of where the “real” money is and what you should be focused on if you want to be competitive.
If you use this properly, your squeeze page has the power to boost your visitor-to-subscriber conversion rates, allowing you to send follow-up communications that will in turn help convert your subscribers to buyers. This is the “holy grail” for an internet marketer. This is what keep the money coming in and the world going round.
I have assembled some tips to help you build, or improve, your squeeze page. They are pretty easy to implement and should get you on the right track in no time.
Keep it Simple!
A squeeze page is meant to serve one purpose – get subscribers to your list. Don’t get carried away and end up with clutter everywhere like affiliate links and other offers. As a matter of fact, less is more when it comes to a squeeze page. It is better to have less on a squeeze page than to overwhelm your visitors with too many options. Keep them focused on the optin.
Make your intentions clear – you want them to subscribe, not click off your page? If your page is too cluttered your reader will get lost and move on. You have to make it clear exactly what you want them to do. If you give them too many choices they won’t make one at all. Think about the old Saturday Night Live skit where John Belushi plays an owner of a small restaurant and all they offer is cheeseburger, cheeseburger. It didn’t take his customers long to decide what they wanted did it? They were focused. The same principal applies here.
Make a Compelling Offer
There are a lot of other people online offering basically the same things you are. You are all competing for the same customers and your competition wants your readers to sign up for their site too. So, what makes you different? Why should they sign up with you instead of them? Why should they give you permission to continue to contact them?
The first step is to speak to your reader in terms they can understand. Speak to their problems and their pain. Tell them how you will solve their issues and then tell them what you want them to do next.
Let your readers know exactly what to expect when they sign up for your list. What are the benefits to being on your list? Figure it out and then tell them how being on your list will solve every (fill in your area of expertise here) problem they have. Pull out all the stops and make a compelling offer.
One way to make sure this happens is to under promise and over deliver. You hear it all the time but it is so true. If you promise a weekly newsletter you’d better send them a newsletter every week or be prepared for the mass unsubscribe when you haven’t mailed them for months and your readers no longer remember who you are or why they subscribed in the first place. Give them what you promised and then some. This will not only keep them as customers, it will inspire them to tell their friends about you too.
Follow Up Relentlessly
A mega profitable squeeze page will make your prospects want what you’re offering so badly they don’t hesitate in giving you their name and email address. It creates trust and confidence and these are the building blocks for a very profitable relationship.
We have been trained to expect immediate gratification. Our society is addicted to it so if you’ve offered an ebook or ecourse as an incentive for them to sign up to your list – give it to them immediately! If you promised it and did not deliver the free stuff, what do you think that is saying about you delivering any product that they might buy?
Don’t make them wait for anything. Use an autoresponder to send out the information right away. If you don’t have one you should get one if you plan on being in this business unless you want to stay glued to your computer 24/7. I use Aweber and love it. I started out a couple years back and now have ten or twelve email lists with them. They deliver your email on time and are very reliable. There are other companies out there so do your homework but Aweber is highly regarded in the industry and won’t disappoint.
Constantly Test, Tweak and Test Again
The major difference between a marketer that will make it and one that will go broke is testing. Successful marketers test everything all the time. Start out running a split test with two squeeze pages against each other to see which gives you the highest conversion. After that, test again, and again, and again to increase your conversion rate. I can tell you not everyone is doing this so this could separate you from the competition right here.
While we hope that every decision we make with our online business will result in enormous success, unfortunately, this is not always the case. And even if we did call it correctly, it is all relative because where you start cannot be where you end up. You have to keep improving all the time.
If the copy on your squeeze page doesn’t seem to be drawing your readers to sign up, you might need to take a look at how you’re driving traffic to your squeeze page. Everything is subject to change and the more you test the faster you will improve and the more profit you will make.
Never be afraid to ask a mentor or someone with some background in Internet marketing their honest opinion of your squeeze page. Keep an open mind to what they have to say and what you need to hear. Then, make the necessary changes. The more you fail the faster you succeed so embrace failure as a step towards improvement and your ultimate goal.
There you have it, my take on what make up a profitable squeeze page: Keep it Simple, make a Compelling Offer, Always Follow Up, and Test, Test, Test!
Now, go out and create the best squeeze page you can. It doesn’t have to be perfect but, it does have to exist so get with it and get it up on your site. You will be amazed at what a good list will do for your income. Make sure you stick to the basics and use persuasive copy that gives them a reason to opt-in. From there, the sky is the limit!
Will Facebook Overtake Google as The Place to Advertise?
Advertising your product or service will be (or is) your largest expense if you are a small business trying to generate sales online. Google has been the destination for advertising dollars for quite some time now due to the enormous amount of traffic they produce. It looks as though the paradigm is about to shift to a company called Facebook. I highlight the opportunity for businesses in my book Secrets to Mega Marketing on Facebook.
I am sure by now you are familiar with Facebook (if not, click here to visit my Facebook page). It is one of the fastest growing social media sights with over 400 million active users. They have built a community that is inclusive of just about everyone. The reason I say this is because MySpace used to be the place but the crowd was so young that it pushed many people away (me included). I didn’t care for all the garbage that was on there and it certainly was not my scene. I figured, if I felt that way then I’ll bet that many people 30-55 years old probably felt that way and this has proved to be true.
But getting back to Facebook. For whatever reason “everyone” feels safe on Facebook. From teens to grandmothers, it doesn’t matter, they are all on Facebook and networking like crazy. The social experience has remained civil, at least for now, and the dialog is fun and informative. And get this….50% of all users log in each day! This is about a perfect storm for you as an advertiser.
So we know the “eyes” are there, why advertise with Facebook over Google. Well, I don’t know that you want to cut Google out totally, but lets go over a few points. First off, Google is very difficult to deal with. They are not user friendly and they are not there to help you get started. If you are new to internet marketing you better have all you ducks in a row prior to spending your money with Google. As a matter of fact, they will not hesitate to ban your account and without notice and without any reason given.
I know this first hand because it happened to me. I was spending $500 to $600 per month with them and last December noticed that I wasn’t getting any clicks. My ads were still approved but no traffic (impressions) were coming to my ads. So I sent Google an email asking why I was not getting any traffic to my ads and they responded with a clip and paste response saying that I had violated some editorial rules and that I would never be permitted to advertise with them again.
Banned for life! No “warning”. No….”this doesn’t look right can you please adjust it”…nothing… just “you are banned for life”. Why was I banned for life? What did I do that was so terrible. I was experimenting with sending people to a “lead capture” page prior to gaining access to my site. This is a page where people enter their email and then are sent to the sales page. I figured, for the cost of the click I should at least get their email so I could market to them.
I thought this was acceptable and I found out the hard way that it was not. Talk about arrogant, I don’t wish Google ill will but let’s just say that I am not sad that Facebook is now giving them a run for their money!
This is not the first post you will see from someone who was banned by Google and it won’t be the last. Many hard working entrepreneurs were banned and now there is a big movement to capture the opportunity on Facebook. I have been advertising on Facebook for about a year now and have seen very good click through rates (CTR). This doesn’t surprise me due to the high amount of targeting that you can activate if you choose to. I will leave that for another post but you can really get granular with your advertising and it can pay off in a huge way.
Will Facebook overtake Google as The Place to Advertise? I sure hope so!
Getting Started is Your Most Important Step
Are you just getting started in the internet marketing business? The most difficult step is the one you are thinking about making right now, getting started.
You see, there are many people who would love to have a thriving internet business and so they read, investigate, read some more, buy some e books, maybe some training videos, and never get started.
Can I tell you a personal story? When I created my first e book and someone actually BOUGHT it from me….I was hooked! Even though I had to issue a refund because the person felt it wasn’t worth the price. It didn’t matter. Want to know why? Because I knew I could sell SOMETHING online and make a profit.
As a matter of fact, the refund and feedback was invaluable because it made me go back and make the product better. It confirmed in my mind that there was a market out there wanting the information, I just had to come up with the right information at the right price. And I did.
Imagine for a moment if I would have waited until I thought everything was perfect. I would still be working on the original draft and would never had made my first sale. And without the first sale I probably would have quit or lost interest.
If you are looking to create a product, e book or information product, dont delay…get on it now. Open a word document, create an outline, and start typing. Set a goal to have something out inside a week or ten days at most. Don’t try and write “War and Peace” the first time out, make it a 15 page e book on something simple and get it on the web to see if it will sell. The first sale that comes in will give you the juice you need to keep going.
Start fast, don’t worry if it is perfect at first. Give it your best shot and get it out there. You will be surprised what your first taste of success will do for you.
Do you think this will help you? Please leave your opinion below. I would love to here it.
Frank Kern and Trey Smith Go Crazy
If you haven’t seen this duo yet, you must check them out! They bring fun back to work. As a matter of fact, besides their enormous success, their humor is one of the things that make them so appealing. They are just down right funny!
Enough of that, now to the update on their membership site Info Marketing Monthly. Anthony DeLoach is a partner in crime and submits a considerable amount of the content on Info Marketing Monthly. According to Anthony, he has made quite the sum of money through the use of email marketing and this is the latest topic for this membership site.
For email marketing to be successful you must track open rate and click through rate to make the most of your marketing efforts. Segmenting your list and sending the right message to the right audience could substantially raise the amount of people who open your emails and the amount who click on your links inside them.
There are three effective ways to segment your list:
1) Best subscribers – frequent purchasers. Make them feel special, special content, deals, etc
2) Click Happy List – consistently open your emails and click on your links.
3) The Covert survey List – find out more about them by giving them a choice of two links to click on. Example, if you are in the dog training niche, on email could reference potty training and the other could reference dog tricks. both refer to training but now you will have better info on what to send them to buy.
Guru tactics to get your emails opened: Use parenthesis (they work), Use the words “video” , “picture” or “pic”, Personalize the email with location specific mentions when appropriate, make a crazy statement with a ? is your dog crazy?, Use Buzz words (see Google), Use curiosity statements (do you know this girl?), Use choice in the title (spanking or no spanking (what works for me)…lol that should get your attention! resend the same unopened email with a different title.
So you got them to open the email, now how to make them click on the link: include a pic or video (make it click-able) with a link just below it. Be cool and be yourself, no corporate speak. Be short and to the point, the idea is to get them to click the link, not read a novel. Set expectations (look for my special email tomorrow as it contains a special ninja tactic.)
And…..the four magic words to increase your open rate……”sent from my iPhone”
