Google Places is an absolute must for local businesses. And yet… I don’t think that half of the local businesses out there have a clue that they should belong to this valuable resource.
While doing some research for a local client it was hard to escape the prominence of Google Places in the search results. I have been doing a lot of SEO stuff for people and and Google Places was always part of the routine, but now it is the first thing that I am focused on for my local clients.
Just take a look at the a,b,c,d,e,f,g listings… right there at the top. All studies that I have read says the first three spots get 79% of the clicks and then the percentages decline pretty rapidly from there.
With all this, local businesses NEED to know this information (or at least we need to know it and get paid to implement it -:))
You know Google is valuing this information highly.
And so that means we should be doing so as well.
