But times are changing and the market is changing. The world has been rapidly moving from online to mobile and the time is right to make sure you are positioned properly to take advantage of this move.

Learning how to build (or have built for you) iPhone and Android Apps and Games is the wave of the future. Actually, that is hard to say because the future is now.

Just take a look around you and see how many people are using there mobile device for calling, texting, looking up things using apps, doing business on their iPhone or Smartphone, and even playing games.

The market is exploding and it will dwarf the online market in a big hurry.

People take their phone everywhere and use it for everything. Yep… there is an app for that.

But the market is just now starting to develop and the smart marketers are the ones that are building apps and games to take advantage of this move in the way society functions.

This shift is not just for games, it is for every day functions for many people. Any the market will continue to grow and expand as the speed and functionality of iPhones and Smartphones continue to increase.

I have been making apps and now games for the iPhone and getting them in iTunes. The nice thing about that is Apple does all the promotion. But where you are ahead of the masses is you know how to market where others that know how to make apps don’t have a clue how to market.

So the time is now to make a good app and get it into the app store and use your internet marketing ability to smoke everyone else making apps.

It really does work like that, as most of us have learned from previous experience. However, building a successful website is possible. And we have a few easy steps which will help you achieve just that.

Here are some simple tips to drive traffic and what I found to work the best for me. I think it will work for you too.

Make content the king of your success and make the search engines “drool” over your content! If you actually publish something of value rather than trying to game the search engines you will be miles ahead of many….many marketers.

Don’t sit back and wait for traffic, go get it!

A lot of marketers build their website and wait for traffic to come to them. Do you know how many websites are out there? Millions, all competing for the same traffic. Who do you think will get the lions share of the traffic, those who sit back and wait for it to come to them or those that go out and get it?

Exactly, go out and get your traffic. Write a few articles and distribute them to the article directories. This will help you get one-way incoming links which the search engines love. Participate in related forums and provide valuable content and input in exchange for a link back to your website.

Forums have been a huge benefit for me. I started posting in several niche forums just to get a feel for what type of product they might want and before you know it I was getting traffic left and right. When I did some investigating I found it was coming from the forums that I had posted in. I mean BIG traffic and TARGETED traffic!

You can also advertise on select and related sites. Just make sure that the website you’re advertising on is actually a high ranking site with a steady stream of related visitors. The trick to getting traffic is to be consistent and to try a variety of different methods to help build incoming links.

Of course, you’ll also want to make sure that all of your website pages are search engine friendly, that your website has a user-friendly and search-engine friendly navigation structure.

Include plenty of links to outside resources and also link to other articles inside your website. This will get the reader to stay on your site longer, lower your bounce rate, and increase the value of your site in Google and other search engines.

Be a Real Person. Many websites are cold and unfriendly. This won’t help your sales. People are sceptical and when doing business on the web, they’re going to opt for websites which appear professional and also reassure them that there is indeed a real person behind the website.

Be sure to include an “about us” section on your website as well as a contact and privacy page. If you are having trouble creating a privacy policy page there is a WordPress plugin called Easy Privacy Policy that will create on for you in a snap.

A picture of you and your team (if you have one) is a nice touch as well. Share a little about your business and let them know you are there to help them. People like to know you are human. As quirky as it may sound…. the more human and less polished the website sometime the more traffic you get because it looks authentic.

Building a website requires a lot of hard work and a lot of common sense. Dont over think it adn put yourself in the shoes of your target market. What would they want to see when they come to your website…. and give it to them.

And finally, being personable and letting your customers know that you are there to help them should the decide to purchase anything from you. The more they trust you the more they will come back and the easier you might make a sale.

I have added this as part of my eBook distribution funnel and have been happy with the results so far.

It is easy to publish on B&N NOOK platform. All you have to do is sign up for a PubIt! account, enter your information, upload your eBook in Word doc format, and you are all set.

The only detail that I am a little put off by is the fact that you earn less of a royalty selling on NOOK than on Amazon Kindle.

On Kindle you earn a 70% royalty if you price your item between $2.99 and $9.99. On NOOK you only earn a 65% royalty for the same retail.

Why Barnes and Noble would do this is beyond my reasoning. You would think they would want to be competative with the largest eBook retailer out there, Amazon, but at this time they are keeping a extra 5% of your money.

But the fact remains, it is best to get your eBook out to as many outlets as possible. This will give you the best opportunity to earn the most money and get the greatest amount of exposure.

Formatting is very important so people can read your eBook with ease. I use the same formatting as with Amazon Kindle and it works and looks great!

Good formatting is fast and easy if you know what you are doing. If you need help formatting here is a complete resource to guide you through step by step.

When your are publishing your eBooks, the more outlets you have the better off you will be so don’t forget about Barnes and Noble’s NOOK store as you put together your publishing plans.

The big mystery to try to figure out when publishing to Amazon Kindle is formatting. If you don’t format the contents correctly it comes out all garbed up and no one will buy it.

Well, after many tries, I finally figured it out. The table of contents, the spacing, everything and I recorded everything while I was doing it. If you want to have a look try Kickin It On Kindle. I made over 30 videos that cover everything from A to Z.

Now I’ve seen programs you can purchase for $1,000 if you are in the mood to spend money, but Kickin It On Kindle has all the bases covered and I am damn near giving it away.

Kindle is unique because you can purchase content on Kindle and read it on your computer. And the good thing is Amazon used their heads when putting together the pricing model.

You see…. anything priced over $10.00 only pays out a 35 percent commission to the author. However, if the author sells the ebook between $2.99 and $9.99 Amazon pays out 70 percent commission.

If you do the math, that is a pretty good incentive to keep the pricing low. This will, of course, drive more traffic to your book and make more sales.

The one big turn-off from an author point of view is the payment schedule. At the end of Oct I received my commissions from August, which kind of sucks, but after you get things rolling pretty good like I have then it doesn’t make that big a difference.

It’s just that most of us like the instant gratification from our hard work and you won’t get that here for sure.

That being said, Amazon has a great business model and I would highly suggest you look into making it part of your recurring income. It is definitly worth it.

I am going to start outsourcing everything for about $60 per week and keep my catalog of books growing by having someone else write and publish them for me.

Keep in mind, NO GARBAGE! If you are going to outsource it like I am, make it crystal clear to your writer that the books don’t have to be long (50 pages is usually good) but the content has to be high quality.

The nice thing is, people generally don’t want to read War and Peace and they purchase a book from Kindle, they just want some good information fast which is a marketers dream.

Just the facts and cut out all the fluff.

Take advantage of this golden opportunity to earn some good money before the time is gone and I wish you the best.

Without traffic you could have the best looking site and it wouldn’t matter. On the flip side, you could have a so…so…. looking site that gets tons of traffic and you could make a ton of mula (money) off of it.

I always like to show people the website Plenty Of Fish to illustrate my point. Even though they just recently went through a site upgrade, they still are pretty basic and they get an Enormous amount of traffic.

So just what is the right formula for more website traffic? There is no perfect road map and one source isn’t going to do it for you but here are some tips that will get you started and going in the right direction.

#1 – Write and distribute articles. This may seem like a simple strategy on the surface but it can be very powerful. Just writing one or two articles a day will quickly add to a lot of incoming one-way links (the type of links the search engines love most) for your business. I have about 100 articles submitted (over the last several years) to ezinearticles.com and other article directories and the send pretty good traffic.

Once you write the articles distribute them to a few top ranking directories. Don’t stop there, distribute a few articles to large online traffic websites  like Problogger, ShoeMoney, or John Chow directly. Give them exclusive use of the article in exchange for the incoming link. This is a great strategy you can easily apply.

#2 – Make your pages search engine and reader friendly. Striking the balance between writing for your human visitors as well as the search engines is simple if you stick to this rule – write for the reader first and then naturally insert your keyword phrases into your copy.

It’s also a good idea to include all the appropriate SEO tags on all your pages. These tags help the search engines find you. Here is a good article on Search Engine Optimization if you need further info.

#3 – Set up a search-engine friendly navigation structure. For the search engines (and your human visitors) to find the content on your website, you need a clear navigation structure. This structure should consist of your top topics which are also your keywords and then for each of those main pages you’ll have sub pages including extensions of that main keyword. A good example of this would be Traffic/On page SEO/Keyword Research.

By having the main keywords as your top topics on your navigation structure, your readers and the search engines will easily find your deeper pages of content. It’s also a good idea to include a back link to your home page on each page of your website. A clear and well-defined site map is a great addition as well. If you use WordPress (which I highly recommend) this is already done for you.

These three key steps are a good starting point to build your traffic. Apply them regularly and ensure that your content is fresh and up-to-date and you can’t help but to win over both the search engines and your human visitors too.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the important process making your copy is for the search engines, like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and others easy to read and judge the relevance to each keyword.

One of the first steps is to layout your article in good order. Go from overall topic, down to smaller, more specific topics, and so on. This will make for a good reader flow and sound Search Engine Optimization sense.

Next, make sure you have Title tags, H1 tags and H2 tags. This signals to the search engines the importance of these and makes it easy to follow.

After that, BOLD any text that is important and link to relevant content. Links to outside content are good but inside links (links to other articles in your blog) are a good way to keep readers at your site longer and this will help increase your ranking…. oh yea…. always link back to your home page.

Next, find a photograph that relates to your content and use the keyword in the photo description tag. The image also provides visual interest for readers and you can say a lot about where you are coming from with the picture you place within an article.

Creating a site map is fairly easy and makes sites easier to navigate both for users and search engine robots.

Create different Title and META tags on every page. This allows each page to be included in a search.

Knowledge of SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is critical when you write articles online. Your articles need to be found by the search engines, but without optimal SEO principals it will never happen.

Learn what SEO does. Search engine optimization increases the traffic to a web site by moving the site up the ranks within a search engine. The higher a web site ranks in the results from a search engine, the more likely a user will visit that web site.

A good tip for people with local products or services is to remember to use keywords for your specific area or region if that applies to your product or service.

Select the right keywords. Keywords should be specific and not general phrases. For example, if you are selling handbags, Italian leather handbags would be a better keyword phrase to use than simply handbags. Especially if you want to attract buyers. The more specific the better.

Do not duplicate your SEO content and submit it multiple times. Search engines will recognize this as spam and ban you. That could be the kiss of death for your site if this happens so be very careful.

Write at least 200 words of  copy. This is the bare minimum amount that most search engines look for when ranking pages. Most of your articles should be 400-500 words. Combine a couple shorter articles to create an article with a broader reach and more words to get to this threshold.

Stuffing keywords (usually at a percentage higher than 4-6% ) can make your articles be banned by Google. If it looks like SPAM, Google will remove it from their system and stop sending traffic to your site. You want your article to be keyword rich…. but don’t go overboard.

SEO is not an exact science. A little attention to this area is better than none, however, make sure you are ultimately writing for your readers and not he search engines. All the traffic in the world won’t do you any good if no one returns once they visit. Make your content interesting and helpful and you will build a loyal following.

Well I figured out the amazing secret formula… (ok…. maybe a bit tongue-in-cheek but hopefully you’ll get my point)

The most successful marketers Pick Their Niche Markets Carefully and Methodically.

What I mean is, they usually don’t go into a market unless they know (ok…. nothing in 100% but the odds are stacked heavily in their favor) they can make money and most of the research is finding the right niche.

There are numerous benefits to finding a niche versus marketing to a large market (markets are too broad…. you will waste time and money in a “market” as opposed to a niche). Not the least of which is finding “buyers” rather than “tire kickers”.

So…what is a niche?

A niche is a specific group of people inside a larger general market which you can market very specific products to.

An example of a large market is: “Diets” or “Weight Loss”.

If you would try to market to these general markets chances are you would get a bunch of tire kickers and make no money. Why? because the market isn’t specific enough to attract buyers.

An example of a niche market within that group is: “Moms who want to lose weight after pregnancy”

Now we are getting somewhere. Can you see the difference in these two groups?

By targeting a small and very specific group of people you get to know your market inside out. This means that you’ll know what they need, what they respond to and what makes them tick. This is difficult to do when you’re trying to be all things to all people. Plus, if you are marketing to Moms who want to lose weight after pregnancy it is easier to identify specific problems that you can create a solution for.

By targeting a small niche market it’s also easier to gain expert status. If all your marketing is focused on one very specific group and their needs you’ll gain trust and expert status within that group very quickly.

Soon, you’ll become the trusted go to expert on that one topic. Once you put yourself in that position your marketing becomes effortless. People recommend you to others and when you have something to sell people will trust the quality of that product and want to buy it – without a lot of effort on your part.

Niche marketing also means more specific keywords and keyword phrases for your website. These are called “buying keywords” because people who type them in are more likely to be looking to buy.

Think of it this way. If you were looking for a camera and you just typed in “camera” into Google do you think you would more than likely purchase something from the results that came back? Probably not…. because they are too vague.

On the other hand…. if you typed in “white mino flip video recorder hd” do you think you might purchase from the results that came back…… oh yea! Cause these are exactly what you are looking for…. see the difference?

Plus search engines love specific niche sites with quality information. By targeting a niche market you can really dominate the search engine traffic results for that niche.

This means more website visitors, more customers, more trust and eventually more money.

It’s hard to be all things to all people. You’ll never get the balance right and someone will always be unhappy. While niche marketing doesn’t assure you won’t have unhappy customers at some point you definitely minimize the risks.

Not only that but you increase the odds of building a highly profitable online business and becoming a bazillionaire.
